We often ascribe greatness to products and/or services because of glitzy marketing.
Pictures depicting happy customers mesmerize us into handing over our hard earned cash. We willingly ignore what’s behind the scenes. Blinded by all that sparkles. We gave our wives diamonds, with no concern about them being “Blood Diamonds”. We kept our homes warm, with little concern for the men working the mines.
We chose to use Verizon’s FIOS Internet, with little to no concern for their reckless behavior, that may one day leave us with no Internet service for days or weeks at a time. We’ll accept Verizon’s vain apologies for what they’ll call an inconvenience, and accept pennies for the hundreds of dollars in damages they’ve caused.
When Verizon finally gets around to it, they’ll give us back our Internet, and out of blind faith we’ll forgive them, and pretend that nothing ever happened. We can be the worse consumers, and Verizon loves that about us.
